Rebecca Heijkoop is a aspiring fashion photographer living in Lisbon, Portugal.. She was born on the 18th of December 1990 in Enschede, The Netherlands. In the summer of 2003 she moved with her parents and sister to Portugal. There she started to learn and do webdesign in her free time. Her idea had always been to study arts but life took her another way, studying science and technologies in high school. On her 18th birthday she got the present she wanted most; a Nikon D40, she had always loved photography but this gave her even more inspiration. Shooting at school party’s, holidays and with friends and family she got a hang on it and knew she wanted to do something with it, but just didn’t know what exactly so she waited. In August / September 2009 she did a fulltime pet grooming course in Lisbon and when she ended 11th grade she decided that she was after all going to follow the arts path. In the December 2009 she read an advertisement in NStyle Portugal about a Fashion Photography course in Lisbon taught by Mário Príncipe. She entered the course and from that moment on she put everything into following her passion; photography. In December 2009 she told her parents her plan of moving out to London, trying to get into Fashion Photography at college and following more courses on the subject, and so she did, on the 12th of April 2010 she flew with her dad to London, where she found her own place. She didn’t get into university but she’ll try next year and the thing that is just the most important to her, is to get even more experience and become even better. She’s not scared of new challenges and loves learning new things. After London she had a car accident in Portugal and so had no chance of comming back to London. She decided to stay for the mean time in Portugal and found an internship with her former Mentor Maro Principe where she is now doing a 3 month internship as his assistant, she works and lives in Lisbon and also is the fashion events and online content person at UrbanLife Magazine a free london printed magazine, for which she is responsible for the webdesign.
